Appointment System – by telephone or in person
All consultations are by appointment and should be made at reception or by telephone during opening hours or online. Please book well in advance for routine appointments. Practice nurse and health care assistants appointments are all pre-bookable and therefore need to be booked in advance.
Antenatal, postnatal and surgical procedures need longer appointments. Do ask the Receptionist if you are uncertain. Please inform Reception if you would like a chaperone.
Routine appointments can be booked by telephone, at reception or on line in advance up to 28 days, or on the day Monday – Friday.
So if you need an appointment in 3 or 4 weeks’ time we will hopefully be able to offer you one.
Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays can be booked in advance up to 28 days.
Extended Services not covered:
- Procedures which involve blood taking
- Minor Surgery
- Liquid Nitrogen
All other routine services are available – if unsure, please contact reception for further information.
Two Day Advance Appointments
Each morning at 08:00 we release a small number of appointments for two working days ahead for GPs and nurse practitioners.
So if you ring on the Monday at 08:00 we will try and offer you an appointment on the Wednesday.
Same Day Appointments
Each morning at 08.00 we release the remainder of our appointments for that day for GPs and nurse practitioners.
We have up to six people answering the telephones at 08:00 so please be patient with us.
Once all appointments have gone and if you feel you need to be seen that day you will be placed on a Practitioner’s triage list.
Appointment Reminder Service
An appointment reminder service in now in place to confirm your appointment at the surgery by SMS text message to your mobile phone. This is to help patients remember and reduce the “Did not attend” appointments which are wasted. A confirmation text will be sent to your mobile at the time of booking your appointment and a reminder is sent 09:00 the day before your appointment.
Please complete a consent form if you are happy to receive this service. These are available from reception. This will be saved on your GP record. You can notify us in writing if you wish to retract this at any time.
Appoint System – Online Appointments
We offer a selection of our appointments to be booked online via the internet. These appointments are with GPs for face to face or telephone consultations – please note telephone consultations will NOT be time specific – they will be made at any time during the day. It will be your responsibility to ensure that you are in a position to receive the call – which will come up as a withheld number – if you miss the call the GP may not be in a position to call again.
We also offer online blood clinic appointments with our Health Care Assistants, Pill Check Clinics with our Pharmacist and online telephone advice on Asthma, Immunisations and Travel with our Nurse Manager Tina Potter. You may only book a maximum of two appointments at any one time via the internet. PLEASE NOTE it is your responsibility to check carefully when reserving your slot that you have booked the correct type of appointment slot for your needs. To register please present photographic identification at reception who will generate you your own private log-in details.
Online Doctor appointments are NOT for Health Checks, Diabetic Reviews, Immunisations, Foreign Travel, Smears, Dressings and Coils. Blood tests should be booked with our Health Care Assistants.
Inappropriate use of the online booking system will deny patients of suitable appointments. We therefore reserve the right at any time to withdraw patients’ use of this system in the event of this happening.

Failure To Attend An Appointment (DNA)
If you no longer require your appointment, please tell us in good time to cancel, so we may use your appointment. An answer machine service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
